Both the Sennheiser HD 202 and the Audio-Technica ATH-M20X are closed back headphones, meaning you get more noise isolation, which is ideal for use in loud environments. Both models are ideal for monitoring as well as for leisure use, with both headphones delivering accurate audio and powerful bass.
The Sennheiser HD 202 has a frequency response rate of between 18 Hz and 18,000 Hz compared to the Audio-Technica ATH-M20X which has a frequency response of between 15 Hz and 20,000 Hz. The impedance on the Sennheiser HD 202 is 32 ohms and the Audio-Technica ATH-M20X is 47 ohms.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20X features swivelling ear cups so you can adjust the fit to suit your listening style and rest them comfortably on your shoulders when you’re not using them. The Audio-Technica ATH-M20X headphones are durable and sturdy and benefit from having a 10 foot cable.
The Sennheiser HD 202 features removable ear cups that can easily be replaced, extending the life of the headphones. The Sennheiser also has a handy cable attachment that allows you to store the cable, making them easier to use when you’re on the go.
Compatibility
Both sets of headphones are compatible with all your high end audio equipment and will work well in any studio environment. The low impedance on both models means you can use either of the headphones with your portable devices without compromising on sound quality and without the need for an amp.
Both models are ideal for travelling as there is very little sound leakage from either of the headphones, so you won’t disturb others around you. Both headphones will enhance your movie watching and gaming as well as being recommended for all genres of music.
Recommendation
We have looked at the features of both the Audio-Technica ATH-M20X and the Sennheiser HD 202 and we think the better set of headphones is the Sennheiser HD 202. They have more comfortable ear cushions which are great during long listening sessions.
The Sennheiser HD 202 is also the less expensive model and, having replaceable parts, you get a lot more for your money.
