Both the Beyerdynamic T90 and the Beyerdynamic T1 are designed to be comfortable enough to wear for extended sessions in the studio and are both lightweight headphones, each weighing only 12.3 ounces. Both models feature padded adjustable headbands with the Beyerdynamic T90 being wrapped in microfiber compared to the Beyerdynamic T1 which is leatherette wrapped.
Both models have soft memory foam cushions that are wrapped in a comfortable velour, giving you more breathability. The ear cups on both headphones are designed to sit over your ears, meaning less pressure on your ears after hours of wearing.
The audio quality on both sets of headphones is high as they are aimed at delivering a powerful sound from high end audio equipment in a professional studio environment. The Beyerdynamic T1 has a high impedance of 600 ohms compared to the 250 ohms on the Beyerdynamic T90.
The Beyerdynamic T1 headphones are semi-open back design, giving you a more acoustic sound compared to closed back headphones but not as open as the open back style of the Beyerdynamic T90. Both models feature powerful Tesla drivers which can deliver quality audio at high volumes.
The Beyerdynamic T1 and the Beyerdynamic T90 are stylish headphones that are durable and sturdy, however, neither of the models can be folded flat. Both come with carrying cases, with the Beyerdynamic T1 having an aluminum storage box compared to the nylon bag for the Beyerdynamic T90.
The Beyerdynamic T1 can deliver 126 dB of sound compared to the 125 dB from the Beyerdynamic T90.
The Beyerdynamic T1 and the Beyerdynamic T90 are both designed to be used with high end audio equipment in order for them to reach their potential. The high ohm on both models means you will need an amp in order for audio to be heard as it’s intended.
Both the Beyerdynamic T1 and the Beyerdynamic T90 come with a 6.3 millimeter jack cable, with the Beyerdynamic T1 benefiting from having detachable cables, meaning you can switch easily to the most suitable length of cable. Neither of the two models are recommended for using with portable devices.
After looking at the main features of the Beyerdynamic T1 and the Beyerdynamic T90 we think the better set of headphones is the Beyerdynamic T90. The Beyerdynamic T90 has a lot of the same great features that the Beyerdynamic T1 and still delivers superior audio.
The Beyerdynamic T90 is also around half the price of the Beyerdynamic T1, meaning you get a lot more value for your money. The Beyerdynamic T1 doesn’t have any features that we think warrant the extra $400.
