The Britax Marathon 70-G3 vs. The Diono Radian R100
Crash Protection
The Britax Marathon 70-G3 can take in the pressure from a wreck through its SafeCell system. It uses a foam and steel bar system to lower the center of gravity in the seat while reducing the potential forward rotation that a child goes through in a wreck. The Versa-Tether system also reduces forward motion.
The Diono Radian R100 uses the Safestop harness to absorb more energy in a wreck. The EPS foam on the center and sides of the seat are also designed to secure the impacts that come with a seat. The sides are also secured with an aluminum construction system to keep the kinetic energy of a crash down.
Adjustable Help
The Marathon 70-G3 is for smaller children as it can handle around 70 pounds of weight. It has a reclining system for front and rear-facing needs. There are also two buckle positions.
The Radian R100 has three buckle positions and five shoulder positions. A low-sitting profile is also included to make it easier for the child to fit in. This model can hold children up to 120 pounds in weight.
Installation
The Radian R100 uses a LATCH installation system for children up to 65 pounds. It can handle front and rear systems and uses rubber grips on the bottom to secure the seat as it is being installed. The model is also made with a folding system to make it easy to store when it is not in use.
The Marathon 70-G3 has a contoured base for installation needs while also using harness straps that are stuck on the sides unless the user has to secure them to the child. Meanwhile, the LATCH connectors on this model are designed with push-button release features. These are all designed to keep the model secure and less likely to slip up.
Overall
The Britax and Diono models both have their own features for safety and comfort. They can both be adjusted to fit the first years of a child’s life while traveling. The Britax model uses more features with the child’s safety in mind but the Diono model does more for handling more children with many different setup positions.
