When picking a car seat, you have to choose one that can provide the essentials for your child. It needs to be comfortable, portable, and give your child safety when the unexpected happens.
You can never go too far when it comes to wanting to protect your child. Things like complete side impact protection and making sure that you can achieve a tight installation are very important to consider!
There are lots of car seat questions that need answered.
Is the belt hard to tighten? How much movement can the leveling system provide? Is the seat belt installation easy? Do we have complete side impact protection? Is the car seat easy to clean?
But it’s hard to pick one, especially when both car seats are getting rave reviews. This is the case with the Britax Marathon Clicktight and the Chicco Nextfit.
Both have high ratings on Amazon from lots of happy parents. But which one is the better pick?
We’re here to break it down for you and decide. Let’s compare.
The Price
Both are higher-end car seats designed for parents who have a flexible budget. And, as it turns out, both cost about the same.
The Clicktight runs for about $264 and the Nextfit goes for about $270. At these prices, six bucks isn’t a difference at all, and we can’t think of someone who has a budget that can afford one but not the other.
With the prices so close, one won’t have much of a better deal than the other. So let’s look and see why the Nextfit costs a bit more.
Weight and Weight Limit
Both seats have a minimum weight limit of 5 lbs and a maximum of 65 lbs. Therefore, we must look at how much each seat weighs.
You would think that both would be the same, but that’s not the case here. The Clicktight weighs a whopping 33 lbs, and the Nextfit is just 15.
For some, that isn’t too much of a struggle, but many people may have a harder time carrying something that’s over 15 pounds heavier. Because of this, we tip our hat to the Nexfit for being more portable.
Comfort
Both have adjustable reclines with soft headrests, so both will assure your child comfort. However, the Clicktight has a feature that makes theirs better.
And that’s their automatic adjuster. The seat is programmed to adjust automatically to provide your child with maximum comfort.
Since your child can’t tell you if they’re uncomfortable, this is a good feature to have. The Clicktight wins this one.
However, it should be noted that the Nexfit does have indicators as well, but not an automatic adjustment.
Safety
Both seats are designed with safety in mind, giving you assurance that your child will be okay if there’s a car crash. However, which one is better?
While both are safe, we have to go with the Clicktight. It implements SuperCell technology to minimize impact, and its larger weight makes the seat harder to throw around.
Which One is Better?
While both are excellent chairs, the Britax Marathon Clicktight wins this one. It’s safer and it automatically adjusts to keep your baby as comfortable as possible, and it’s slightly cheaper, although the price difference isn’t too impressive.

The only disadvantage is that the Clicktight is heavier, but this should not be a problem, especially if you’re a parent who carries around your baby, anyway.
