The Diono Radian RXT vs The Britax Frontier 90
Safety is crucial – especially when it comes to children – and that is why comparing child car seats prior to making a purchase is so important. When looking at Diono Radian RXT vs Britax Frontier 90, however, there are so many great features that it can be a little overwhelming…hopefully this will help clarify what each car seat has to offer.
Comparing the Diono Radian RXT vs Britax Frontier 90
These car seats have one major difference – The Diono Radian RXT supports rear-facing infants from 5 lbs through a booster seat max of 120 lbs. The Britax Frontier 90 only supports front-facing toddlers starting at 25 lbs through a booster seat max of 120 lbs.
If you are looking for a car seat you can bring baby home from the hospital in, then use until they graduate from booster seats altogether, the Diono Radian RXT is your choice. If your child is already aged 2 or older, then you’ll want to focus on the Britax Frontier 90.
Safety Features
Both of these models have very impressive safety features and state of the art tech at work to protect your child.
The Radian RXT features a full steel frame with sides reinforced in aluminum and energy-absorbing EPS foam with side impact protection. It also offers the SafeStop energy absorbing harness and is NCAP crash tested.
The Britax Frontier 90 offers head restraint and side walls made with energy absorbing EPP foam and side impact protection as well as SafeCell technology in the base which lowers the center of gravity and limits forward movement of the car seat in case of a crash. The Frontier 90 also features integrated steel bars and an energy absorbing Versa-Tether to anchor the top of the car seat to the vehicle for additional safety.
Convenience
You can fit three Radian RXT seats next to each other in a mid-sized vehicle, great for growin families. The Radian also collapses fully for awesome portability and can be carried as a backpack with the carry strap sold separately. This model also features a rubber grip bottom to keep the seat from slipping on installation and even has an angled cup holder.
The Frontier 90 also offers a cup holder as well as integrated storage for snacks. Britax, however, seems to have put the main focus on safety over convenience – something that should give parents peace of mind.
Overview
When comparing the Diono Radian RXT vs Britax Frontier 90 in the parent convenience department, the Diono Radian RXT comes out ahead. Both offer superb safety features, but it is obvious that Britax kept its focus on safety, especially with older children, while the Diono Radian RXT has your child covered from birth to school aged.
