Baby monitors like the Levana Ayden and the Levana Astra allow parents to know how their child is sleeping and if there are any causes for concerns.
To help you decide if the Levana Ayden or the Levana Astra 8 is right for you, we’ve compared the two baby video monitors in the categories of camera, display screen, menu options and extras. We then offer a recommendation.
Camera
The camera for both the Levana Ayden and the Levana Astra include infrared LEDs that allow you to see your child, even in the darkest of rooms. There is a speaker that connects with the display screen so that you can talk to your child if you want.
The camera has a power adapter connector and an on/off switch. You don’t have to worry about charging a battery on the camera.
The camera also has a temperature sensor on both models.
Display Screen
Both the Levana Ayden and the Levana Astra have a 3.5 inch monitor screen so you can see your baby in full view. On this screen you can see your child, and if he moves, there is no problem as you can use the screen to move up, down and sideways.
The display screen also shows the room temperature, which is great as it allows you to know if your child may become too hot or too cold in the night.
The display screen for both products is battery powered, and will need to be plugged in to recharge. However, both baby monitors employ PEEP technology.
PEEP stands for Power On/Off Energy Efficiency Picture which sets both the monitor and the camera to sleep when there are no sounds coming from the baby’s room. However, many users reported that the PEEP technology in both baby monitors is not as sensitive as they would like.
Menu Options
Through the display screen, you can set up your baby video camera to meet all of your needs. Both display screens allow you to change both the volume of your baby’s room as well as the brightness of your display screen.
Extras
Both the Levana Ayden and the Levana Astra have clear digital signals and invisible night vision. This means that regardless of the time of day, you can always see a clear picture of your baby.
The Levana Ayden and the Levana Astra also both have three soothing lullabies that you can choose from. As any new parent knows, music can be a great way to get your baby to sleep, and having it programmed into the monitor is a nice and simple attribute.
Recommendation
Neither the Levana Ayden nor the Levana Astra are high end baby monitors, and this is reflected in both the price and quality. They are also very similar, despite being different models.
The Levana Ayden is the less expensive of the two video monitors and is recommended if you need an extra monitor for an in-law’s house or for travel, but probably not as a long term product for your baby.
