The Bosch GLM 50, similar to the Bosch GLM 40, also has a back-lit display. It also has three measuring reference points (which can also be used with an optional tripod); front, back, or center.
If you are purchasing the Bosch GLM 50 new you can expect the device to come with batteries and a fabric carrying case.
Recommendation
To recommend one of these products over the other is tough! They are so similar, but the slight differences will affect which one is better for you.
If you are looking for the ability to measure longer distances then the Bosch GLM 50 is the way to go. It will measure 10 m further than the GLM 40.
If you are looking for measurement modes to play with then the Bosch GLM 40 is preferred. It has six measurement modes as to where the GLM 50 has only 5.
