The Britax B-Safe and the Britax B-Safe 35 fall into the category of “product sibling rivalry”. They have many of the same features, but there are a few defining ones that separate them. We’ve brought the similarities and differences to light here for your educational reading.
The four categories are looked at, comparatively, to give you information to make an informed decision on your purchase. The four categories are: weight restrictions and product dimensions, safety features, price difference and additional bonus features.
Weight Restrictions and Product Dimensions
The Britax B-Safe’s weight restriction lies between 4 lbs. and 30 lbs. The overall product dimensions are 17.5” x 24.5” x 27.5”.
The Britax B-safe 35’s weight restriction is slightly higher, with the range being between 4 lbs. and 35 lbs. The overall product dimensions are 17.7” x 20.6” x 21.8”.
Safety Features
Both the Britax B-safe and the Britax B-Safe 35 have energy-absorbing foam and side impact protection. They also both have a five-point harness system.
The Britax B-Safe 35 also has, in addition to those features, a deep shell design that features all around side impact protection and an impact-absorbing base to reduce injury in a vehicle accident.
The frame is also constructed from steel for extra safety and support. The Britax B-Safe does not share this quality.
Price Difference
Both of these models lie in the affordable, lower to mid-price range. The Britax B-Safe, depending on purchase location, is sold between $150 and $200. The Britax B-Safe 35 is typically higher by approximately $20 – $30.

Overall Product Recommendation
With these two models so closely designed it is incredibly difficult to give an overall product recommendation. Either one of these models would make a fine choice for a rear-facing infant car seat.
However, for the sake of choosing, the overall product recommendation would have to go to the Britax B-Safe 35. The deep shell design and the steel frame give me, as a parent, an extra slice of peace of mind to walk away with. The extra $20 is well worth the spending when it is spent on safety features.
