The Turtle Beach DP11 and the Turtle Beach DPX21 are both surround sound headphones that will give you high quality audio for all your gaming and online activities. So how do you know which set of headphones is the best set for you?
We have put together a list of the stand out features of the Turtle Beach DP11 and the Turtle Beach DPX21 to see which model we think performs better.
Comfort
Both the Turtle Beach DP11 and the Turtle Beach DPX21 are lightweight headphones that have mesh covered padded ear cushions as well as a padded, mesh covered fabric headband to give you more comfort when wearing them for long periods.
The DP11 weighs 8.2 ounces and the DPX21 is slightly heavier at 13.1 ounces. The DPX21 features a twist design on the ear cushions so you can lay the headset flat on your shoulders when you’re taking a break.
Functions
Both the DP11 and the DPX21 have the benefit of microphone monitoring so you will be able to hear your own voice in the headsets when you chat, meaning the end to unnecessary shouting at other players. Both models also feature chat and game volume controls so you can alter the two speakers independently of each other, such as a higher chat volume and lower game volume or vice versa.
The DPX21 has the additional feature of a chat boost function that will automatically increase the chat volume if there’s a temporary loud noise during your game, so you will always be able to hear your teammates or opponents no matter what is going on in your game.
Audio
Both the DP11 and the DPX21 feature 360 degree surround sound with the DPX21 having 7.1 Dolby surround sound. Each of the headsets have the capability of changing the angle of the speakers inside the headset to tailor the sound to your own requirements.
The large 50 millimeter speakers on the DP11 give high quality audio for gaming, giving you full immersion in your game, and you can also watch movies with surround sound with both the DP11 and the DPX21. Both the headsets feature a bass booster, giving a more intense sound quality.
Compatibility
The DP11 and the DPX21 are designed to work well with more than one system, with the DP11 being compatible with the PS3, PS4, PC and Mac. The DPX21 will work will all of those devices as well as an XBox 360.
Both the headsets are easy to set up to your different devices without any additional software and they both come with a USB cable so you can easily attach to all of your devices.
Recommendation
The Turtle Beach DP11 and the DPX21 are both similar headsets but after looking at the features of both of them, we think the better one is the DP11. At around $30 less, the DP11 has a lot of the same features as the DPX21 and has all of the important ones that you’ll use in gaming.

The DP11 is also a lighter weight headset so you will be able to wear it for longer periods of time. The DPX21 is a good headset but we don’t think it’s worth the extra cash.
