Choosing between the Keurig Rivo and the Nespresso Lattissima can be difficult since they are both espresso machines that use pods and make frothy coffee at the touch of a button.
But how do you know which one will be the best fit for your lifestyle and kitchen? We’ve selected the main features of the Rivo and the Lattissima to find out which one is the better choice.
Style
The Keurig Rivo and the Nespresso Lattissima are both compact coffee machines with stylish features. The Rivo features a smoother design with no nozzles and sleek buttons, whereas the Lattissima has a dial switch on the top which takes away slightly from its contemporary design.
The Lattissima is a great option for smaller kitchens as it takes up very little space and is a lot narrower than the Rivo. The Lattissima measures 6.5 inches wide by 12.6 inches deep by 13.5 inches high but loses 3.5 inches in height when it is not operating, compared to the Rivo which measures 11 by 11.5 by 11.5 inches.
Functions
The Rivo has 3 different frothing settings for cappuccinos, lattes and cold froths and can brew espresso in under one minute. The Lattissima benefits from a thermoblock heating system that heats up in 40 seconds and has adjustable froth and coffee settings to personalize your beverage.
Both models make rich espresso using espresso pods instead of ground coffee or beans. The Lattissima has a larger variety of the Nespresso pods than the Rivo which uses Lavazza branded pods.
Cleaning
The Rivo has removable parts that can be washed in a dishwasher for convenience. The Lattissima has a one button cleaning function that will clean the machine for you, saving you time and effort.
The Lattissima also benefits from having a holding tank for used espresso pods, which holds 10 pods, meaning you don’t have to keep emptying the machine after each beverage.
Ease of Use
The Lattissima and the Rivo are both easy to use, especially for those who have never had a coffee machine before. The pods are easy to install in both machines and both models will make coffee with just the touch of a button.
The Lattissima comes with a 12 ounce milk carafe that can be removed and placed in the refrigerator when the machine is not in use, meaning less refilling. The Rivo benefits from being able to brew espresso and froth milk separately but at the same time on either side of the machine.
Recommendation
There are lots of benefits to having both the Keurig Rivo and the Nespresso Lattissima but we’ve found that the best machine out of the two is the Keurig Rivo. It is less expensive than the Nespresso Lattissima but is able to produce delicious coffee.
