Netgear n600 and n700 are incredibly close models in the Netgear family. Some might even categorize the n750 wireless router as an upgrade to the Netgear n600 wireless router.
So what do you get with the n750 that you don’t get with the Netgear n600? What features do they both offer you?
We’ve compiled information about four categories to let you know what the two models share, and what are unique to them. The four categories are: speed and range, security and hardware, overall product dimensions and weight, and unique features specific to each model.
Speed and Range
While both models are 802.11 dual band Wi-Fi routers, the speeds vary.
The Netgear n600 has a speed of 300 + 300 Mbps. The dual band range breaks down to 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.
The n750 has an increased speed of 300 + 450. The dual band range breakdown for the Netgear n600 is the same as the n750, set at 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.
Security and Hardware
Fortunately the security on both the Netgear n600 and n750 are the same. Some of the features they share include a double firewall, Denial-of-service (DoS) attack prevention, DMZ for secure gaming and WPA / WPA2 encryption.
Similar to the security, the Netgear n600 and n750 share the same hardware features. These features include five ports (four LAN and one WAN) and one USB port. They also are easy to operate with the Push ‘N’ Connect system. This system includes push buttons for Wi-Fi on/off and power on/off.
Overall Product Dimensions and Weight
The Netgear n600 is a slim wireless router, weighing almost nothing. The overall weight for the Netgear n600 is .76 lbs. The overall product dimensions are 8.58 x 6.29 x 1.28”.
The n750, while still being slim and lightweight, is still larger than the Netgear n600. This model weights .97 lbs. The overall product dimensions are slightly larger at 9.21 x 5.86 x 2.99”.
Unique Features Specific to Each Model
While these two models share most of their features, there are a small bit that are unique to the models.
The unique features seen on the Netgear n600 include:
- ReadySHARE Vault
- Gigabit wired
- VPN support
The unique features seen on the n750 include the following:
- IPv6 compatible
- Time Machine compatible
- Expanded TiVo storage
Overall Product Recommendation
While either of these two models would be great, and it is difficult to give an overall product recommendation. Since we promised an overall product recommendation, we would recommend the n750 over the Netgear n600 model. Since there are many differences, the additional speed was one of the major reasons this model received the overall product recommendation.
The second key contributor to the n750 receiving the overall product recommendation was the fast that the n750 is compatible with Mac machines through the use of Time Machine. The Netgear n500 has ReadySHARE Vault for PC machines (which the n750 does not), but has nothing for Mac machines.
