In this article, we’ll be comparing two projectors from Optoma. Optoma has a line of projectors that have received positive reception, and we’re here to see which one gives you the most out of your money.
When you pick a projector, you want one that will keep your wallet happy as well as your eyes. You need something that delivers on picture and lasts a long time. So let’s see which one is the better projector in both value and quality.
The Price
When it comes to value, we need to at first look at the price. We’ll compare the prices coming from the first party for a new model.
As of this review, on the projectors’ Amazon pages, the price for the HD141X is $573, and the price for the HD25-LV is $989.
That’s quite a difference in cost. The HD25-LV needs to blow the HD141X out of the water for that price? But does it?
Picture
Both projectors do boast the ultimate HD experience at 1080p, and both have a contrast ratio of 20,000:1. This delivers a picture that will blow your mind.
Lumen-wise, the HD141X has 3,000 lumens, and the HD25-LV has 3,500. If you’re into lumens, that may make the HD25-LV worth the extra money, but we’re not seeing anything that warrants the cost as of yet.
Other Features
Both projectors do sport their own built-in speakers. The Optoma HD141X has a ten-watt internal speaker, and the HD25-LV is a bit better, giving you a rich bass.
In spite of this, the built-in speakers aren’t too impressive. Usually, the audio pales in comparison to external speakers. And if you’re looking for a true theater experience, you can’t cut corners on sound. Built-in speakers should only be a last resort.
Also, both projectors do boast 3D compatibility. For those who still like movies and games with depth, you’re not going to be left out.
Both projectors also have a long battery life, and should work with your mobile devices.
There doesn’t seem to be too many bells and whistles the HD25-LV has, making it a bit disappointing considering the price. However, due to its powerful internal speaker, it makes it a bit better than the HD141X.
So Which is Better?
Objectively, the HD25-LV is the better projector of the two. With more lumens and an internal speaker that delivers rich bass, it provides more of an experience.

But the question is, which is the better value? At $400 more, the HD25-LV doesn’t have too much more than the HD141X. The built-in speaker will still be not as good as individual speakers, and the amount of lumens in the HD141X will still suffice.
So overall, the HD141X is definitely the better value of the two. If you have a lot of money to burn, get the HD25-LV. But if you have a budget and want to get the most from your money, the HD25-LV may be a bit of a ripoff.
