When choosing a projector, you need one that is of good quality. You want something that is affordable, easy to use, and can give you a picture that feels like you’re bringing the theater to your home or classroom.
But with so many out there, which one do you choose? A good projector makes the difference between a quality, IMAX-like experience and that of a run-down theater where the picture goes out half the time.
Thankfully, we’re here to give you an informed decision. For this article, we’re going to be comparing two projectors.
Both are from Optoma, a brand that is known for quality projectors. One is the HD141x, and the other is the HD26.
Which is better? Which of the two will give you more value for the price? Let’s compare!
The Price
When shopping for a good projector, you do need to have a higher budget if you want quality. Both projectors do cost quite a bit.
As of this review, the HD141x costs about $573 on Amazon, and the HD26 sells for $649. Both prices aren’t too much far apart, not even a hundred bucks’ difference.
At this budget, there isn’t too much to compare, but the HD141x does beat out the HD26 in price. However, is the extra price for the HD26 worth it?
The Picture
Both are about the same when it comes to picture quality. Obviously, both projectors will give you the full 1080p HD experience. Also, both projectors do support 3D, so if you’re still into 3D movies, games, or shows, you’ve bought the right projectors.
However, the HD26 does have a few differences in picture quality. First, it boasts 200 more lumens. The HD26 has 3,200, while the HD141x has 3,000. This might not mean anything for some, but the HD26 has another trick up its sleeve.
The HD26 has adjustable brightness, while the HD141x does not seem to support that. This allows you to customize your experience, which is important when getting the best experience.
Overall, the HD26 has better picture quality, although the other projector does still pack a punch.
Other Comparisons
Both products do have two HDMI ports and a way for you to enable your mobile devices to display content from that. the HD141x does say that it has a built-in speaker, while the HD26 does not seem to mention anything about speakers. However, a built-in speaker usually has poor audio quality than external ones.
Overall
Both are great projectors that deliver a quality picture, but we think the HD26 does beat out the HD141x by a bit. Not only is the picture more crisp, but you can customize how bright you want your movie to be.

Sure, the HD141x does have a speaker, but at ten watts, it’s not too powerful, and should only be used for a last resort. And there’s only a small price difference, so if you can afford the HD141x, you can probably save up a bit more and get the HD26.
