The Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 are high-end strollers built to carry your loved one wherever you need to go. Because both strollers are pricey, it’s important to understand all of the many specifications they offer.
We’ve compared the Bugaboo Bee with the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 in the categories of age restrictions, what’s included, terrain and adjustability and then follow with a recommendation.
Age Restrictions
Both the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 are made for newborns to toddlers. Both are compatible with car seats, but neither the Bugaboo Bee nor the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 come with them; you would have to purchase your own Bugaboo car seat plus an adaptor rod for the stroller itself.
What’s Included
While the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 have steep asking prices, they do come with a host of accessories to meet the needs of your growing baby.
The Bugaboo Bee comes with the stroller itself, plus a rain cover and sun canopy. It also has an under the seat basket.
The Bugaboo Chameleon 3 also includes the stroller with frame and wheels, a rain cover and sun canopy. It too, has an under the seat basket.
The major difference is that the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 includes a bassinette which is great for newborns. The Bugaboo Bee offers this feature, but at an additional cost.
Terrain
Knowing where you will be using your stroller is important in determining what type of stroller to buy. City life and country life require different strollers.
With its four smaller wheels, the Bugaboo Bee is made primarily for city life. It can maneuver nicely around tight corners and large crowds, however it is not really suitable for rougher terrain.
The Bugaboo Chameleon 3 has two smaller wheels and two larger wheels, making it more adaptable to different terrains. It has a unique function in that you can switch the handle bar so that the larger wheels are forward; this makes it more suitable for rough terrain.
Adjustability
Not all caregivers are built in the same way and because of this Bugaboo has created strollers that are easily adaptable for adults of all sizes.
Both the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 offer one-handed steering and boast the ability to have a comfortable ride, regardless of your own height.
As for the stroller seat itself, both the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 have three settings: straight for awake children, reclining for relaxed children and flat for sleeping children.
Recommendation
The Bugaboo Bee is priced at around $600 and while this may seem steep, it is nothing in comparison to the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 which can go for $1100.
The Bugaboo Bee is a dependable stroller that is great for city life. If you want the option of a newborn bassinette, it can easily be purchased. The Bugaboo Chameleon 3 tries to offer too many things, and ends up unnecessarily increasing its price because of this.
Keep it simple with the Bugaboo Bee.
