The Graco 4Ever and the Britax are both convertible car seats designed to keep your child safe in your vehicle during travel. With the two car seats offering excellent safety features and having similar functions it can be difficult to know which model will be the better one for your child.
We have looked at both the Graco 4Ever and the Britax and have made a list of the key features of both products to help you decide which car seat will be the better choice.
Safety
Both the Graco 4Ever and the Britax are engineered with a steel frame to give the seats extra strength and both products feature energy absorbing foam in the shell of the seats, designed to give maximum protection in the event of an impact. The Graco 4Ever and the Britax have both been side impact tested and meet or exceed all Federal Safety Standards.
The Britax has the added feature of having a V-shaped tether that helps to prevent movement and rotation of the car seat during a collision, as well as staged released stitches that slow down and minimize forward movement of the seat, meaning your child will stay protected.
Size
The Graco 4Ever is a lighter car seat than the Britax, weighing in at 23 lbs compared to the heavier Britax that weighs 30 lbs. Due to the extra weight the Britax is not the ideal car seat for using to transport between vehicles.
The Graco 4Ever measures 24 by 20 by 21.5 inches compared to the Britax which measures 23 by 20.5 by 23.5 inches. When both seats are used in a rear facing position the Graco 4Ever will take up slightly more room, which may affect the seats in front.
Comfort
Both the Graco 4Ever and the Britax are cushioned to give your child a comfortable ride. The two models feature padded head cushions to keep your child snug and let them fall asleep easily during long trips.
Both models feature adjustable headrests to suit your growing child, with the Britax having 14 different headrest positions compared to the Graco 4Ever having 10. The Graco 4Ever comes with a 6 position recline that allows you to adjust the angle to suit your child.
Ease of Use
The Graco 4Ever and the Britax both come with handy features that will let you install the seat in your car quickly and easily. The Graco 4Ever benefits from a Latch system that takes one second to click into place and the Britax features a Clicktight installation system that lets you know your seat is correctly installed.
The 5 point harness system on the Graco 4Ever lets you adjust the harness and the headrest at the same time. The Britax has an indicator that lets you know that you’ve got the harness tightened correctly.
Recommendation
With both the Graco 4Ever and the Britax having excellent features we think they are both strong and safe car seats. However, because of the strong safety features, we think the better car seat is the Britax.
