The Safety 1st Grow And Go and the Graco Extend2Fit are two convertible car seats that will allow your child to be placed in a rear facing position as a newborn and forward facing as they grow. They both have similar features and are a similar price, so how do you know which one will be right for you?
We have looked at the key features of both the Safety 1st Grow and Go and the Graco Extend2Fit so you can get a better idea of which one will best suit your needs.
Safety
Both models have been crash tested extensively and feature side impact protection. The Extend2Fit has a steel reinforced frame, giving extra strength and protection and also benefits from energy absorbing foam padding.
The Grow and Go and the Extend2Fit both feature secure 5 point harnesses that are suitable for children up to 65 lbs in a forward facing position. The Extend2Fit benefits from being able to hold a child of up to 50 lbs in a rear facing position, compared to the Grow and Go which can only be used in that position up to 40 lbs.
Size
Both models are large and you may struggle to fit three along the back seat of your car. The Grow and Go measures 24 by 19 by 24 inches compared to the Extend2Fit which measures 26 by 21 by 27 inches.
With the Extend2Fit being used in a rear facing position for longer it may mean it’ll require more room in front of it to allow for its extended size. Both models are a similar weight, with the Extend2Fit weighing 15.2 lbs and the Grow and Go weighing 15.4 lbs.
Comfort
Both models feature built in cup holders at either side of the car seats, so your child’s drink will always be within their reach. Each of the car seats benefit from removable seat cushions that will keep your infant snug and allow more room for your toddler when removed.
The Extend2Fit has a 10 position adjustable headrest and a 6 position recline so your child can ride in perfect comfort during long trips. The Grow and Go has 3 position recline and an adjustable headrest to suit your child up to 100 lbs.
Ease of Use
Both the Extend2Fit and the Grow and Go are easy to install, with the Extend2Fit benefitting from a one second latch attachment and harness storage. Both models feature an easy harness adjustment function that can be done with just one hand and adjusts the headrest simultaneously.
The seat cover and cushions on the Grow and Go can easily be removed and machine washed without removing the harness. The Extend2Fit can be wiped clean and has machine washable cushions.
