Both the Omega J8006 and the Breville BJS600XL make nutritious juice using the slower speed masticating method. With both delivering the juice for a similar price, how do you choose which juicer will best serve your needs?
With our helpful guide we’ll pull out the main features of each model. We’ll analyze aspects such as power, space and functionality and recommend whether the Omega J8006 or the Breville BJS600XL is the favorite of the two.
Power
The Omega J8006 and the Breville BJS600XL are both slow speed masticating juicers. Each of the models run at the same speed when they process juices, which is at 80 rpm and said to be particularly beneficial when extracting juice from soft fruit or leafy greens..
The motor that powers the Breville is a low 240 watt motor, compared to centrifugal juicers that can run up to a 1,200 watt motor. On the other hand, the Omega runs with a 2 hp motor, which is six times less powerful than the Breville, meaning it uses a lot less energy than the Breville when running.
Space
Both the Omega and the Breville are smaller in size than most centrifugal juicers, so they will both take up less space in your kitchen.
The Breville is an upright juicer and is therefore smaller than the Omega and will take up half as much counter space. The Breville measures 8 ½ by 7 ½ by 16 inches compared to the larger Omega at 14 ½ by 6 ½ by 15 ½ inches.
Functionality
Both the Omega and the Breville create delicious juices from fruit, maintaining the nutrients and enzymes and allowing the juice to be stored for up to 72 hours after it’s made. Both the models are ideal for juicing leafy vegetables, like kale or spinach.
With the Omega you get a range of additional attachments and nozzles so you’re not just limited to making juices, like with the Breville. You can also grind coffee beans, make soy milk and peanut butter and can even make your own nutritional baby food.
Cleaning
Both the models are very easy to clean compared to centrifugal juicers. They each have a small screen that can be cleaned with a brush.
The Breville comes with a handy little tool that will clean the screen and help clear fruit that gets blocked. It’s recommended that you simply add a cup or two of water, run the motor and your juicer will be clean in no time.
Recommendation
The Omega J8006 and the Breville BJS600XL both come in at similar prices and both are quiet. However, with the extra features that the Omega comes with we think this is the better option.
The Omega model has a much longer warranty than the Breville and is more likely to be used daily as it has more additional uses. The space saving features of the Breville are not enough to convince a switch to the Omega, since you’re getting a lot more value with the Omega.
