The AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAI TMA-2 are customizable headphones suitable for either listening to music or mixing music. The AIAIAI TMA-2 is a newer version of the AIAIAI TMA-1.
To help you decide if the classic AIAIAI TMA-1 headphones are right for you or if you should invest in the newer, updated AIAIAI TMA-2 headphones, we compared the two products in the categories of fit, sound, accessories and customer service and then follow with a recommendation.
Fit
The AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAI TMA-2 offer adjustable, padded headbands that can easily adapt to any head size.
They also both offer interchangeable ear pads. With both models you can choose between regular ear pads for listening purposes or noise isolating pads for DJ use.
The earphone cups are also adjustable so that you can make the headphones fit perfectly around your ears.
Sound
The Frequency response for the AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAI TMA-2 is 20 to 20,000 Hz. The impedance is also the same for the AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAITMA-2, that of 32 Ohms.
Both the AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAI TMA-2 have closed titanium drivers that are 40 mm in dimension.
The cable is unique with both models, in that you can choose to lock it to your headphones so that it doesn’t get pulled loose while playing. This ensures that your sound quality is never affected.
Accessories
In addition to the headphones themselves, the AIAIAI TMA-1 comes with a 1.5 meter coiled cable, and a 6.3 mm stereo plug converter. There are 2 sets of earpads, one being leather and the other being synthetic.
The AIAIAI TMA-1 also comes with a heavy duty carrying pouch to protect your headphones and a user booklet.
The AIAIAI TMA-2 is all about customization. Within the AIAIAI TMA-2 model are a series of presets, or editions to choose from.
These presets include the BNR Edition, favoured by Boysnoize Records, the All-Round Preset, for general music listening, and the DJ preset, for sound mixing activities.
If neither of the presets are what you are specifically looking for, there is also the option to customize your headphone and choose from all of the many options.
Customer Service
The AIAIAI TMA-1 and the AIAIAI TMA-2 are from the same company and as such use the same customer service model. It is worth mentioning, however, that this customer service goes far beyond any other competitors.
The company is Danish and seems to have kept its customer service department in-house. Many consumers reported that if they had any problems with either set of headphones, their problems were quickly dealt with in a satisfactory manner.

The AIAIAI TMA-2 takes what the AIAIAI TMA-1 was and punches it up a notch. The AIAIAI TMA-1 headphones are great, quality devices but the AIAIAI TMA-2 allow for better customization.
While the technology is relatively the same between the two models, if you are going to invest in a new pair of headphones, choose the ones that are newer, better, and represent who you are as an enjoyer of music.
