If you’ve been wanting the theater experience in the comfort of your own home, you’re in luck. It’s never been easier to buy a projector that will give you a crisp picture and last you a lifetime.
But which one is the best? With many name brands, tons of models, and a price range for every budget under the sun, it’s hard to pick one.
And that’s why we’re here to help. We have two high-rated models today, the H6510BD from Acer, and PJD7820HD from ViewSonic. Both give you a powerful experience that brings the theater to your room, but which is the better value? Let’s find out.
The Price
Both projectors are for those who have a mid-tier budget, with the Acer model costing you about $489, and the ViewSonic going for $577.
The price difference, as you can tell, isn’t too bad. However, if the Acer model turns out to be the better value, you have some extra dollars you can spend to enhance your experience. So let’s look at the picture.
The Picture
With all of these projectors, you get the 1080p experience of full HD, and you also get 3D support. So if you have any glasses, whip them on.
But that’s where the comparisons end. First, let’s look at how bright each model is.
And it turns out that both models are the same, each at 3,000 lumens, which is impressive for the brightness.
Now, let’s look at the contrast ratio. The Acer has a ratio of 17,000:1, while the more expensive ViewSonic has… 15,000:1.
As it turns out, Acer wins in picture quality.
Other Features
Of course, if a projector’s features are unique, it can sell it better even if the picture quality isn’t as good. Both projectors do have eco-friendly options, which will dim the brightness once idle.
Also, both projectors do have their built-in speakers, but you’re better off buying external ones if you want theater-like sound to go with your home theater.
The Acer model does include a dust shield, which can be useful if you hate cleaning your projector. That alone makes it a bit better when it comes to features. ViewSonic’s projector just doesn’t have anything unique.
Which is Better?
Surprisingly, the less expensive model is the better value, putting ViewSonic in the dust. The contrast ratio is a bit sharper than ViewSonic, and it does have a powerful dust filter so the projector stays cleaner longer.

Plus, it costs less. Not by too much, but it’s enough to think twice about purchasing ViewSonic’s model. Granted, ViewSonic’s projector is good, but Acer’s is just better in many ways.
So if you can find it, go with Acer. It’s cheap, but it will deliver a decent theater experience for under $500, making you and your bank happy.
As always, we’re glad that you took the time to compare projectors with us. Good luck in finding the projector that suits you, and happy shopping.
