Having a home theater is easy, but buying one is not. There are so many projectors to pick from, and it can be a bit intimidating searching through mountains of Amazon pages and reviews in order to pick one.
That’s why we’re here to help. We take some of the best projectors around and compare them to see which one delivers the best for less. And today, we have two models from Acer and BenQ, the H5380BD and the W750.
Which is the best? Let’s find out.
The Price
We look at price based on what the official retailer on the product’s Amazon page is selling it for, and as of this article, the Acer model is going for about $489.
Interestingly enough, the BenQ model is no longer being manufactured, and is only available through third-party sellers. As of now, a new model goes for about $776.
That’s quite a difference, and the fact that the BenQ model is no longer in production is a negative sign for the W750. But hey, maybe an older model can be better, so let’s find out.
Picture
Both models don’t give you the full HD experience, as they only go up to 720p. For some, that won’t matter, but many do want a 1080p display.
Therefore, we have to look at the lumens. The BenQ model has 2,500, and the Acer has 3,000. Quite impressive on Acer’s part.
For the contrast ratio, the BenQ model gives you 13,000:1, while the Acer gives you 17,000:1.
In both brightness and contrast, the Acer topples over the BenQ. However, it should be noted that neither will give you the full HD experience.
Other Features
Both projectors do have an Eco mode, which dims the brightness when not in use, saving power. The BenQ model does have a SmartEco mode, which does adjust brightness based on how much lighting is in the room. It’s a nifty feature to have.
Also, as usual, each projector does include built-in speaker. And, as usual, built-in speakers for projectors do suck, so get yourself some external ones if you can.
When it comes to features, BenQ has SmartEco beat for the SmartEco feature, but neither do have anything impressive to note.
Which is Better?
We choose the Acer model for quite a few reasons.
First, there’s the fact that the BenQ model is not available through first party. This could be a problem when it comes to returning the product, depending on the seller, and may void the warranty. Also, this makes the price so much more than Acer.

With Acer, you do have the first party option, giving you peace of mind. Also, you do have a much better picture, so this makes the Acer a much more ideal purchase than the BenQ.
If you do want to buy a BenQ, go with a newer model that’s still in production. Otherwise, stay away from it and buy an Acer.
