When you wake up in the morning do you crave a plain cup of coffee or a luxurious espresso? If you are like me, waking up to a luxurious espresso while reading a book is my idea of a perfect morning!
If that’s the case, check out these two fantastic expresso machines: the Breville Duo-Temp 800ESXL and the Gaggia Classic.
While drooling over these two machines, I compared the following four categories to determine the most recommendable one: water tank capacity, filter type, weight and dimensions, and expressive features and accessories.
Water Tank Capacity
The less you have to change the water tank in the morning (while you’re half asleep) the better. The Breville 800ESXL features a removable, front-fill 2.2L tank. The Gaggia Classic sports a 2.1L water tank.
Filter Type
The 800ESXL has a dual wall filter system. This means that, after the first filter, there is a second filter for the water to pass through. The second filter has a single hole to which the water can travel through. This causes pressure to build in the brew head and helps the flavor to be extracted from the coffee.
The Classic has a heavy-weight filter cup holder to use with the machine. This allows for consistant coffee temperature.
Weight and Dimensions
The Breville 800ESXL weighs 26 lbs and has the following dimensions: 15 x 16 x 13 inches.
The Gaggia Classic weighs slightly less at 22 lbs, but has larger dimensions. The dimensions are: 25 x 13 x 12 inches.
