The Keurig Rivo and the Verismo by Starbucks are both coffee machines that give you great tasting espresso in your own home through the use of pods instead of beans. Both models are similar in price so it can be difficult to know which one to choose.
We have looked at the features of both the Keurig Rivo and the Verismo to help you figure out which one will be right for your home.
Style
Both the Rivo and the Verismo are similar in size and are fairly compact so neither of them will take up too much room on your kitchen countertop. The Rivo measures 11.4 by 10.8 by 11.4 inches and the Verismo measures 11 by 7.6 by 12.9 inches.
The Verismo has a cylindrical appearance with a coordinating cylindrical water tank, giving it a unique style compared to the chunkier and more traditional looking Rivo. Because the milk frother is separate from the Verismo the machine is a lot lighter at just 7.7 lbs, compared to the Rivo, which weighs 17 lbs.
Function
The Verismo uses 19 bar pressure system to extract the espresso compared to the lower 15 bar system on the Rivo. The Verismo is ready to brew in just 15 seconds and the Rivo can brew in under one minute.
Both the models can froth hot and cold milk so you’re not limited to only having hot beverages with either machine. The Rivo system has everything built in, such as the water tank and the milk frother, compared to the Verismo that has the water tank adjacent to the brewer and a completely separate milk frother that comes with the machine when bought as a system.
Espresso
The Rivo and the Verismo both create espresso from pods specifically designed for each machine, which are available in a variety of different flavors and roasts. The Rivo uses Lavazza brand pods and the Verismo uses Starbucks brand pods.
The Verismo has the benefit of having the availability of tea pods to create teas so you’re not limited to coffees, making it a more versatile machine for your home.
Ease of Use
Both the Rivo and the Verismo are easy machines to use and you can brew perfect espresso just by touching a button. The Rivo features three frothing modes to create cappuccinos, lattes and cold froth.
With the Verismo you can customize your drink by adding more pods, so you can create a triple shot latte by using three pods at once. Both machines are easy to clean, with the removable parts on the Verismo being dishwasher safe for extra convenience.
Recommendation
After checking out the functions and features on both the Rivo and the Verismo we decided the better machine was the Verismo. It is a little more stylish and sleek than the Rivo and will complement your modern kitchen.

The Verismo has the edge over the Rivo by the fact that there is a greater availability of pods to use in it than the Rivo. Having your coffee machine be able to make a selection of teas and festive chai lattes, as well as a full range of coffees, means it’s very likely to be a favorite with everyone in your household.
