You want a good projector that will deliver the movie theater experience to your home, and we have you covered. In a world of projectors, we’re comparing to bring you an informed decision.
In many of our articles, we’ve compared products from Optoma, a quality brand in projectors. This time, we’re pitting HD141X and GT1080 together.
Our goal is to find the projector that is the better value for you. Which one will win? Find out!
First, let’s look at the price.
The Price
On its Amazon page, as of this review, the HD141X is going for around $575, which isn’t too bad for a projector. Meanwhile, the GT1080 goes for about $699. (Prices are subject to change!).
The HD141X is clearly the cheaper model, but the price difference isn’t too big. Perhaps there’s a good reason to choose the GT1080 over the HD141X. So let’s find out.
The Picture
Perhaps the best selling point in a projector would be the picture quality. After all, you don’t want a picture equal to that of a shady theater.
The HD141X has a crisp, HD display at 1080p. It also includes 3D support if you want a little depth.
More technical aspects about this model include a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and 3,000 lumens, which is quite good.
Now, let’s look at what the GT1080 has to offer. As the name implies, you’ll get the full 1080p HD experience with this, and the contrast ratio is bigger at 25,000:1.
The only plus that that the HD141X has going for it is the amount of lumens are slightly better, but not by too much. The GT1080 has 2,800.
Other Features
Both projectors do have a long lamp life at 6,500 hours, allowing the projector to last you a long time. Both projectors also have built in speakers that are ten watts. Again, stick to external speakers if you want the full experience.
Also, both do have mobile device support.
What the GT1080 has over the HD141X, however, is its Gaming Mode. This projector was tailored for gamers specifically, allowing for better response time.
While the HD141X works for games too, you need to have a projector that is not laggy, as that will make the difference between you winning and you dying.
Overall, the GT1080 inches ahead of the HD141X.
Who Wins?
Both are great projectors and give you excellent value. However, we have to go with the GT1080.

Not only is the contrast ratio better, but the projector tackles it all, including gaming, giving you the best experience. And it’s not too much more expensive than the HD141X.
If your budget does not allow you to get the GT1080, and you aren’t too much of a gamer, get the HD141X. However, if you do have the money and want to kick some butt in a game of Call of Duty, Halo, Street Fighter, or any other competitive game, the GT1080 is the best purchase.
Good luck finding a projector that suits your needs!
