Buying a projector for your home can be tough. Brands are a dime a dozen, and you just want something that gives you quality without spending too much.
That’s why we’re here. We’ll compare the projectors so you don’t have to, allowing you to make a decision.
In this article, we’ll be looking at two projectors from Optoma, a brand known for their high-rated projectors. The first one we’re comparing is the HD141X, and the other is the HD131XE.
Which one will give you more bang for your buck? Let’s find out!
The Price
As of this article, on its Amazon page, the HD141X will cost you about $573. The HD131XE, however, is no longer sold by the company itself, and is only available through a third party source. Right now, a new model will cost you $800.
So as you can see, there is a noticeable price difference between the two. Is the HD131XE worth the extra cash?
The Picture
Now, let’s look at the most important aspect of a projector, its picture. The Optoma HD141X boasts a crisp, 1080p HD experience with 3,000 lumens and a 20,000:1 contrast ratio. It also allows support for 3D, so whip out those glasses if you got them.
The HD131XE model is a bit weaker in terms of picture. It also has 1080p and 3D support, but it only has 2,500 lumens and an 18,000:1 ratio.
So the HD141X is the clear contender. But what about the bells and whistles?
Other Features
The Optoma HD141X includes its own built-in 10-watt speaker, and the HD131XE does not mention any speakers. Again, built-in speakers are no substitute for external, but it’s nice in case of an emergency when you have to use the built-in.
The HD141X also has support for your mobile devices, allowing you to project from them. The HD131XE does not mention mobile support.
Another important note is the fact that the HD131XE is no longer available from Optoma itself. You have to buy it from a third-party.
This could be troublesome if you need to return the projector, and it may affect warranty. If you choose this model, look at the seller to make sure they have the same benefits as the first-party retailer.
Overall, the HD141X beats out the HD131XE when it comes to different features. The build-in speakers and mobile support are just too good to pass up.
Who Wins?
After reading this article, it’s an easy guess. The Optoma HD141X beats out the Optoma HD131XE.
Crisper picture, more features, and the fact that it’s still available through first party are a few reasons why you should check out the HD141X. Not only that, but it’s going for much cheaper than the HD131XE.
