Quality is the only thing you want when choosing a projector. You want, and deserve, something that will put all the immersion of a movie theater in your home without paying twenty bucks for a popcorn and soda.
But there are so many projectors out there that it’s hard to pick one. That’s why we’re on a quest to help you find the best projector for you buck. We’re comparing two high-rated devices, and we’ll see which is better.
First, we have the Optoma HD142X. It’s been favorably compared in a lot of our articles, so the Epson 2030 has some competition. Let’s get started.
The Price
Part of deciding what to buy is seeing which will give you more for less. The HD141X is quite cheap, selling for about $574 on its Amazon page.
Meanwhile, the 2030 goes for about $795 for the 2000 lumens model.
That’s quite a huge difference in price. Let’s see if the 2030’s price is warranted, shall we?
Picture
One of the most important aspects of a projector is the picture quality. You want something out of an IMAX and not a cheap, run-down theater.
The HD141X has the essentials of a quality projector. You have 1080p, 3D capabilities, 3,000 lumens, and a contrast ratio of 20,000:1.
So let’s see what the 2030 has to offer. It also has 1080p and 3D. Lumen-wise, you can either get an 1,800 model or a 2,000 model. The contrast ratio is 20,000:1.
This is a bit of a head-scratcher, isn’t it? The HD141X seems so much better when it comes to picture quality, boasting more lumens and contrast ratio. And it’s so much cheaper. Let’s look at the rest of the features.
Other Features
Both projectors do have built-in speakers, which do have ten watts of power. As we’ve said before, though, if you’re looking for that theater experience, internal speakers won’t cut it. You need external speakers.
The 2030 does have a few features that set it apart from the HD141X. It has more color filters to choose from, enabling some variety if you’re into that.
It also boasts USB capabilities. You don’t need to connect it to a PC or other device. You can just view everything through there. Neat, huh?
Overall, the 2030 does have a few more unique bells and whistles. Whether those make it a better buy depends on the person. Some couldn’t care less for color wheels and USB ports. Others may want them.
Which is Better?
Even though the 2030 does have a few cool features, we don’t think it’s worth the money, especially when topped with the HD141X.

The HD141X has better contrast and lumens, making it ideal if you want the sharpest picture. Plus, its cost is so much less than the 2030.
Overall, we have to side with Optoma once again for being the better projector. They pack a lot of quality for little price, and that’s the most important thing, right?
