Purpose

The Osprey Porter 46 is a rugged duffel bag that is flexible for all of your travel needs. Similarly, the Osprey Farpoint 40 holds enough gear for a weekend getaway, whether in the city or the wilderness.

Capacity

The Osprey Porter 46 holds 46 litres of gear inside of it, although this line of backpacks also comes in a 30 litre and 65 litre size. The dimensions for the Osprey Porter 46 are 23 inches x 16 inches x 12 inches, for height, width and diameter. The backpack weighs 3.31 pounds.

The Osprey Farpoint 40 is able to hold 40 litres worth of gear and also comes in 55 litre, 70 litre and 80 litre capacity sizes. The dimensions for the Osprey Farpoint 40 are 21 inches x 14 inches x 15 inches. It weighs 3.17 pounds.

Comfort

The Osprey Porter 46 can be transformed from a simple day pack to a serious backpack if needed. If you are using the backpack for all terrain hiking, there is a built-in technical pack suspension. You can unzip the back panel and unleash the padded mesh shoulder harness and hip belt suspension so that carrying your load is more comfortable.

Similarly, the Osprey Farpoint 40 has a stowaway suspension system so that when it is not in use you don’t notice it, but when needed, creates load transfer and comfort.

Features

The Osprey Porter 46 features a large front panel pocket that also contains a padded laptop pocket. There are additional sleeves for a tablet and an internal zip pocket for smaller items. For added security, both compartments have zipper access that is lockable.

There is an extra zippered pocket on the front panel that is convenient to access.

The Osprey Porter 46 uses Straight Jacket technology in the form of compression straps so that all of your belongings are held down firmly when you’re on the move.

If you really like the Osprey Porter 46 but still need more capacity, the backpack has reinforced cord loops that allow you to attach a day pack. The Osprey Daylite daypack, which is sold separately, is a nice companion piece to the Porter.

The Osprey Farpoint 40 has a similar zip main compartment and uses the same compression strap technology to hold your gear in tight. Inside the main compartment is a smaller mesh pocket for other items.

On the front of the Osprey Farpoint 40 is a zippered front panel slash pocket that allows you to keep smaller items organized.
