Your child’s growing up, and of course you always need to remember to buckle up! But at 40 to 100 pounds, they’re just not big enough to use an adult seat belt. This is where a high back booster seat that converts to a backless booster will come in handy.
With any booster seat, however, you want to choose one that delivers in quality, safety, and convenience. With that said, we’re comparing two seats of the same brand: the Graco Highback Turbobooster and the Graco Affix.
Which one’s better? Let’s find out.
Weight and Weight Limit
The Highback weighs 8.1 lbs and the Affix weighs 10.5. For most, this weight difference won’t change anything, so let’s look at the weight limit.
The weight limit is actually the same, with the minimum being 30 lbs and the max at 100. Therefore, both are about the same, but the Highback inches a bit more due to its lightness.
Weight and Height Ranges:
Graco Highback Booster Weight Range: 30 – 100 Lbs
Graco Highback (Backless Mode) Booster Weight Range: 40-100 Lbs
Graco Affix Booster Weight Range: 30 – 100 Lbs
Graco Affix (Backless Mode) Booster Weight Range: 40 – 100 Lbs
Graco Highback Booster Height Range: 38″ to 57″ Tall
Graco Highback (Backless Mode) Booster Height Range: 40″ to 57″ Tall
Graco Affix Booster Height Range: 38″ to 57″ Tall
Graco Affix (Backless Mode) Height Range: 40″ to 57″ Tall
Buckling
Both chairs boast a quality self-buckling mechanism that’s stable and easy for your children to buckle their seatbelts.
With your child growing, you need to show them independence, and allowing your child to buckle their seat belts on their own is a good way to do that. Both shine in this department.
Both chairs have easy to use anchor connectors, the lower anchor connectors are of course compliant with laws that came into place back in 2003.
Comfort
Comfort is important, especially during a long road trip where they’ll be complaining if things aren’t comfy. Just like with its buckling, both models have comfort in mind, giving your child a multi-layered head rest and support for their growing backs.
Also, both models do have holders for accessories and cups, so your child can stay entertained during the ride.
Each seat converts to backless rather easily and the back of the seat is easy to take care of.
The energy absorbing foam is comfortable on both seats and many reviews have noted this.
Safety
Perhaps the number-one priority in choosing a seat has to be its safety. Are both of these seats safe, or is one safer than the other?
Thankfully, both seats have been tested for safety, and both pass with excellence. However, the Affix does have a slight foot up, as its seat has been designed and tested for side impact.
So while both are good, the Affix beats it out due to that extra feature. If you want more assurance, the Affix may be the way to go.
The Pricing
The Highback goes for a little under $50, and the Affix costs under $60. There isn’t too much of a price difference, and most budgets should allow you to pick both.
But if you’re a parent on an extremely tight budget that provides no flexibility, those ten bucks can be vital. Therefore, you need to make sure that the Affix is worth the extra cash.
Other Notes
Both seats are said to be user-friendly, portable, and both have received positive feedback on their individual Amazon pages. Other than that, there’s not much else to talk about.
Which One’s Better?
Don’t get us wrong: both seats are great, providing your child with comfort and safety. However, the Graco Affix is the overall better model because of its extra safety features.

At ten dollars more, it’s a small price to pay for more quality. If your budget does not allow, the Graco Highback Turbobooster is still a great seat.
