The Safety 1st Guide 65 and the Evenflo Tribute Sport are both convertible car seats that can be used forward facing or rear facing. They are both of a similar size and are excellent car seats for babies and small children.
We have brought together the main features of both the Safety 1st Guide 65 and the Evenflo Tribute Sport to help you decide which model is better.
Safety
Both the Guide 65 and the Tribute Sport have a 5 point harness system and multiple shoulder strap positions so your child will continue to be secure as they grow. They both meet Federal Safety Standards.
The Guide 65 is designed to be used from newborn up until 65 lbs and 49 inches tall and can be used rear facing from 5 lbs to 40 lbs and 40 inches tall. It has the added advantage over the Tribute Sport of being able to be used for slightly larger children, as the Tribute Sport is only for children up to 40 lbs and 40 inches tall.
Size
Both car seats are compact models that are ideal for travelling with and for fitting into smaller cars. The Tribute Sport is a lighter model weighing only 9.11 lbs compared to the Guide 65 that weighs in at 14 lbs.
The measurements are similar on the two models. The Tribute Sport measures at 19.75 by 18.5 by 27.63 inches compared to the Guide 65 which is 20 by 18 by 24 inches, so is just slightly narrower.
Comfort
The Guide 65 has a lot more cushioning than the Tribute Sport, with the added bonus of an adjustable headrest that can be put in multiple positions. There are also additional side cushions on the Guide 65 to keep smaller babies snug and secure.
The Guide 65 benefits from a removable cup holder, something that the Tribute Sport does not have.
Ease of Use
The Tribute Sport comes completely assembled and ready for you to install in your car but the Guide 65 requires a little bit of assembly before it’s ready for installation. The buckles and straps are easy to use on both models and they are both very quick to get in and out of the car.
With the lightweight nature of the Tribute Sport it’s easier to transport from vehicle to vehicle than the Guide 65. Both the car seats are made with easy clean fabric and can be washed.
Recommendation
With the extra features on the Safety 1st Guide 65 we believe it is a better car seat than the Evenflo Tribute Sport. The bonus of the adjustable headrest and the fact that it can be used till your child is older makes it a better value car seat than the Tribute Sport.

The Safety 1st Guide 65 is slightly more expensive than the Evenflo Tribute Sport but it seems to be a better design. However, the Tribute Sport is still a good choice if you’re looking for a strong, lightweight car seat.
